Question i7-8700K 5.0 GHz vs i7-13700K

Hey all,

Would I really see an increase in performance with a new i7-13700K from my current overclocked i7-8700K @ 5GHz CPU?

I sim in 1080p (MSFS) and may potentially go to 1440 this year.

6 cores vs 16 cores.........

Stock single core is 2749 vs 4404
Mutli is 12k vs 47k


So you will see a big difference!!

Upgrade (Microcenter has great prices on the 13700k at 380 dollars). Then sell your old system parts to help recoup the costs!

Yeah, there would definitely be a big advantage.
I do think the update is worthwhile, yet if you can wait for Meteor Lake to come out, you should, because your system is still quite powerful!

Sims are typically cpu limited and single thread limited at that.
Run the cpu-Z bench and look at the single thread rating.
You should see about 468:

On that chart, you can see that the i7-13700K has approximately double the performance.
While the clocks are not much different, the improved architecture of the processors has delivered considerable improvement in performance per clock.
