[SOLVED] I7-8700k at 90 degrees idle

Hi,

move recently upgraded some parts in my pc ( cpu mother and ram +an all-in-on liquid)
I7-8700k
Aorus gaming 7
Ddr4
Corsair m115i
And now I’ve checked the temperatures on speccy and it’s over heating a lot on idle tasks. The fans seem to be blast air into the case and it’s cold but the cpu isn’t getting cooled enough, could I have applied the thermal paste incorrectly?

Speccy doesn't always read temps correctly.
Try hwinfo

Also make sure pump is plugged in

I’m pretty sure it’s all plugged in, fans are hooked up to the cpufan on mobo, pump hooked up via some kind of usb to the usb slot on the mobo

It is second hand but the guy bought it 2 months ago and has upgraded to custom liquid cooling. How can I test it’s failed?

The pump splits into two which then have an adapter which puts them in one and going into my cpu fan slot next to the cpu, however the is a slot at the bottom that says sys_fan_pump so I unsplit them and put them into two separate slots? And then it also going into the sata cable and usb slot

These are what are plugged into the motherboard, is this correct? I have the option of putting the fan controls into sys_fan_pump but I would have to take it out of the cpu fan any ideas?

Plug the pump into CPU fan/AIO pump. Set the pump to 100% power in BIOS.

Ok I’ll try it now, I’ve not actually looked in the bios yet, I’ll show a screenshot in a minute

How to I set it, does say 0rpm however the fans are spinning

Funnily enough I gave it a whack and it started pumping, no idea why but thanks for the help everyone
