[SOLVED] I7 8700k idle 87C Liquid cooled

I received a pre-build pc for my birthday 2 years ago. A few weeks ago one of the fans began making strange noises, culminating in a ridiculously loud whirring today. I used open hardware monitor to check my temps and discovered my cpu was idling at 92 C. I cleaned the case thoroughly and the idle temp went down to 77-87C.
I believe the problem is with the liquid cooler. Please let me know what I need to do and what else you need to know to help me. Please explain step by step, as I am not very knowledgeable on computers.

Step one: replace the thermal paste on CPU.

If that doesn't work, replace AIO cooler.

Thank you! I took the cooler off of the processor and liquid had spilled and crusted. Bought a new cooler and thermal paste today after a thorough cleaning

Didn't clean the radiator for 2 years? The area under the fans would have been solid caked dust. Lack of airflow through a rad = high idle temps.

No lol, I clean out the entire thing every month or so. Leakage was a greenish white color. Problem started in the last month.

Yeah, that's a leak, the paste is grey. You could have applied for warranty? Almost of of the better vendor aios carry a 3+ year warranty against such, some as much as 6 years.
