Hi folks, I've just set up my rig and i'm really happy with it so far.

These are the specs -
i7 8700k
Asrock Extreme 4 Z370
Dark Rock Pro 4 Cooler
EVGA 1070Ti

I'm using a Define C TG, with 2 x Silent Wings 3 140mm fans infront as intake, and 1 x 120mm Fractal Design x2 GP12 Fan as an exhaust.

I noticed that idle temps are around 45-50degC, and when I was playing CSGO it was at 85degC at its highest.

Is this normal?

Should I consider removing the cooler and re-applying thermal paste?

Hey, I'm in Asia so its my climate is typically warm. Ambient room temps are about 28-30degC.

Hey, I'm currently at work so I'll check on that later today. I'm actually thinking of re-seating the cooler and re-applying thermal paste.

To be honest, the thermal paste from bequiet was quite watery and bubbly when I applied it on the CPU but i left it as is and mounted the cooler.

At the same time, I've removed the top moduvent on my case and changed it to the dust filter. might consider adding another exhaust fan as well (to make it a total of 4 fans, 2 intake and 2 exhaust).

Is it advisable to have 2 intake and 3 exhaust?

Alright so I suspected it was the thermal paste application and that seems to be it. Initial application was watery and had some bubbles but for some reason I went ahead and mounted the cooler and proceeded.

On hindsight, I probably didn't clean it because i didn't have any alcohol wipes with me.

Bought Grizzly Kyronaut, re-applied the thermal paste and also added an additional exhaust fan on the top (so now its 2 intake, 2 exhaust (one rear on top)), changed the top lid to the dust filter (instead of the stock define C moduvent cover).

Idle temps - between 35-45c
Gaming temps
- CSGO - between 50-60ish
- GTAV - between 55-70ish

Seems good?

Seems good to me. Idle temps aren't likely to change drastically (as idle + 10'C or whatever is expected). Load temps are what really matter though, and if you've shaved off 15-25'C overall, then that's great.

Paste should never be watery, nor bubbly - so something was amiss there for sure.
