i7 8700k Memory type?

So i just went on the Intel official website looking over at the CPU which i currently own (i7 8700k) and i read the the memory type is 2666MHz, however at this moment in time i only own 2133MHz, will upgrading the ram to lets say 3000-3200MHz make any difference in the way the CPU performs? (game wise) - The motherboard is Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming: ATX, LG1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs - RGB Ready just so everyone knows. If it does make a difference, what ram do you recommend to buy? Budget is around 200 british pounds.

Upgrading ram speed is a negligible difference in gaming performance. But the sweet spot right now is about 2666mhz before you get diminishing returns. But it is only a few FPS difference vs slower ram. On Intel atleast. Ryzen does perform much better with faster ram though.

So right now me having lower MHz ram than Intel actually recommends slows down the CPU or not really?

It's possible, that your current ram can run at higher frequency already.
Can you post screenshot from CPU-Z memory and spd sections?

It's currently running at Jedec #7 settings.
You can activate XMP profile in BIOS and it will operate slightly faster.

It’s still at 2133mhz. Do you have a link to the ram you currently have? It should say on the product page what it’s rated at. And yes you will gain slight improvements by upgrading to faster ram but not much.

It's whatever, could you find me a good RAM, up to 200 british pounds at 3000MHz or 3200MHz, that will work perfectly?
