i7 8700k stuck at 4.0 Ghz?

I7 8700k with Turbo boost Enabled suppose to run max at 4.7 Ghz, but for me it could only run up to 4.0 Ghz when playing games or running prime 95 test. Could anyone please explain about this?

it is normal.

The 4.7 is for only one core working and the others shut down. when your software needs more cores it will not switch to single core Turbo

here are the Turbo Specs of i7-8700k

1Core : 4.7GHz
2Cores : 4.6GHz
3Cores : 4.5GHz
4and5 : 4.4GHz
6C: 4.3GHz

Also turbo will only work when the CPU temps allows it as well.

having said that, you should overclock your CPU if you want 4.7 all cores all the time (or upto 5 Ghz)
