i7-8700k w/ RTX 2080, or R7 2700x w/ RTX 2080 Ti for 1440p 144hz gaming?

I plan on getting a 1440p 144hz monitor and either the 8700k with a RTX 2080 or the 2700x with a RTX 2080 Ti (I can't get both i7 and 2080 ti, that would cost too much here). So can anyone please confirm if it is better to go for a higher end GPU than CPU at 1440p? Thanks

The faster GPU would be more helpful, however, you will see the RTX 2080Ti get held back a bit by the Ryzen chip. Even the Core i9 9900k can't completely avoid causing a CPU bottleneck on the RTX 2080Ti at resolutions below 4K. Point is that getting the RTX 2080Ti is the better choice the 2700x won't hold the 2080Ti back by so much that a plain 2080 with an Intel CPU would outperform it, but your performance won't be quite as good as it would be if you had an Intel CPU.
