I am scoping out a new build based on an i7920 DO and a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P motherboard. Will the CPU be recognized by the motherboard without updating the bios?

check your bios, if its new bios yes if its old bios probably no - you need to check the bios. if you put the chip and it don't boot - i say no!

seriously, stepping changes usually require a bios update - you could buy a new mobo and get 6 month old bios

giga board are pretty nice i used those pre P6T, i like the sata they lock

asus is my first and only.....asus bios is the only way to go!

Thanks. The motherboard would be a new purchase so I don't know what bios version it would come with. If the CPU is not recognized resulting in no boot up how would you go about updating the bios?
