Hello everyone, I've got a question.
My current pc specs are:
i7 920 CPU@ stock speed (2,67)
6GB DDR3 1067mhz
Asus P6T Motherboard
GTX 560 Ti GPU

I am thinking about upgrading to the i7 4770k with 16 or 12 gb ddr3 1600mhz ram and AMD R9 280X.
The total cost of a full new gaming rig with these things, a big tower, a PSU and SSD go around 1100 €.

My question along with this is: Is it worth upgrading to this to play games like BF4 and newer 2014 games at high/ultra 60fps at 1080p?

Or will it better to be to overclock my cpu, upgrade the gpu and just add the ssd and maybe some faster RAM?

I've been looking for few months now and I've really been struggling to get a definite answer. I hope someone can help me out with this!

Thanks in advance!!

Solution
i7-920 is still relevant. I only upgraded from my i7-950 to Haswell for the 6x Intel SATA III.

Easy enough to clock them to 4.0Ghz or more with the right heatsink and motherboard.

Ah yes oops I didn't say it but I was aware I need a new motherboard for the 4770k

you may find that the 920 will get you a little further down the road.
