I7 930 core temp what is to high

Hello,at what temp would you say the cpu will be damaged.this cpu has been at 92 digress C.Thanks

DO NOT run your CPU at 92C. Any thing above 75-80C (Nehalems) is NOT good imo. You BOTH need to re-seat the cooler or get better coolers. Also, use RealTemp, not CoreTemp.

Agree with the above. Those temps are way too hot. Are you overclocking your CPU or is this at stock? Remove your current cooler, clean off and reapply thermal paste and re-fit your cooler insuring you have solid, proper contact.

Case aiflow is an often neglected part of keeping a cool system, since no matter how good a cooler you have, it's never going to be cooler than the surrounding air. This is a good guide to the basics of case airflow:

92C is definitely TOO hot.

computer builder says he ran prime 95 and the hottest it ran was 92c,and that he was really happy with that.WHAT I said to him,92c,Hay you keep the computer and ill build my own,i really wanted to do this build myself but some how the company ended up doing the build,and iv had nothing but problems with this computer and the company.Bad luck ah.

I reseated my processor heatsink, but my temperatures aren't really going down.

Hmm.... either the temp sensor is messed up, you have bad air flow, or your HSF is completely cr@p. Try the "Sensor Test" in RealTemp. Also, did you apply new thermal paste?

I ran the Sensor Test and yes, I applied Arctic Silver 5.

What that probably was was the CPU case temperature and not the CPU core temps. Rapid CPU degradation doesn't really start until you're in the upper 80s-90s'C, and the i7s don't throttle until they go well into the 90s-100s'C.

If the red-zone core temps of the i7 920 was only 65'C, everyone with the stock cooler would've had a dead i7 920 by now.

And fwiw with the stock cooler and stock voltages on stock clocks during P95 my 920 maxxed out at 75C.

Are you using the stock cooler? The idle temps are too high, but the load temps would be about right if you're using stock and running prime95.

Cut off the metal lid of your processor. Reaply thermal paste on chip itself. Install it on motherboard and put the lid on it. Look on Youtube for IHS removal. The only thing that is gonna fix your problem but void your warranty.
