i7 930 vs i5 2500

I have an i5 2400 and I use it for gaming mostly but my older brother give me a case cpu with an i7 930...which cpu should I keep? my i5 2400 or the i7 930? because I really want to sell one of the cpu in order to upgrade my gpu....please help..😀

i7 is quadcore with hyperthreading @ 2.8 gigahertz stock
i5 is quadcore without hyperthreading @ 3.4 gigahertz stock

Id go with the i5 2400 if all you are doing is gaming.

The i7 might come out ahead in rendering.

An i7 930 can be overclocked to get more performance. Since the i5 2400 is a locked CPU overclock is pretty limited. Anyway the stock performance comparison between i7 940 vs i5 2400 is here at http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/46?vs=363 that can help you decide better....
