Hey guys, need some help here. Before this I was running an 8700K 5 Ghz OC stable with same hardware with no problem. Currently I have followed this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/9qvb2y/my_9700k...)
- The only setting I could not replicate was CPU Current capability uder digi+ power control, he suggests 170% and my max option is 140%
- After 2-3 minutes of small FFTs on Prime95 26.6 will crash to BSOD with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
- While gaming the BSOD will happen at random maybe once or twice during a 5-6 session, usually higher CPU usages or switching apps.
- Max temps at full load high 70s low 80s
- Current specs:
STRIX Z370-E (Latest BIOS)
Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200 MHz C16 X 32GB
EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra
Corsair RM850x PSU
Corsair H110i cooler
Samsung 850 Evo 500GB
Some mechanical drives
- When i followed the guide above VID was not displayed in coretemp at any time.
- After a few crashes i dialed BIOS back to factory defaults, enabled XMP @ 3200Mhz, and set cores synced @ 4.9 with 1.3 Volts and while running Prime95 my VID and core speeds in core temp were throttling down to 3500 Mhz and under 1 volt @ full CPU usage and sometimes would sit @ 4900Mhz but overvolt above 1.4, get similar results @ 4.7 1.22 volts
- Would upgrading to a z390 chipset give me better luck?
EDIT: I have been reading a lot about 9700ks being a bin processor and having a serious silicon lottery and have also seen a few threads with a user suggesting depending what model mobo you have dialing bios back due to overvoltage issues with 9th gen bios support update
- Any ideas?
