Question i7 9700k on Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura Motherboard

Ive read that i7 9700k isnt compatible with Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura Motherboard on some sites. I already bought the CPU , is there a chance that it will work? I mean it has the same CPU Socket Type. Both LGA 1151 I think

Not quite unfortunately, same socket yes but pins do different things. As in, there are dummy pins in 100/200 series motherboard socket that 300 series have functional to power the 8th & 9th gen cpus.

Need a 300 series board. Would recommend a z390 for your cpu.

No it wont work. B150 chipset is limited for 7th and 6th gen of Intel Core.

B150 with a bios update would work with a 7700k but need a 6th gen cpu thatll boot the motherboard to update.

8/9th gen won't get adequate power on generational boards below 300 and won't boot.

Imho, get a z390 since you already have the 9700k. Wait if you have to.

And Gtx 750 should work as it supports uefi. Really though, should upgrade that soon, even to a 1050. Or use the cpu's igpu instead.

But if you have a 9700 already, why did you buy at least a B360 (updated bios) motherboard? It's not the ideal (it should be Z370 at least), since you have a Intel K CPU and you should overclock it to maximize the performance, but would work fine.

It's compatible. You just need to know if the motherboard already came with BIOS 2201. Ask for your seller about it.

But I have to say, this is a low end motherboard with no heatsink on VRMs. It's not recomended. If I was you, I would try to buy MSI version.

I've updated my post after a better look on the motherboard that you suggest.

You should buy one of this instead since there's no VRM heatsink on Asus model.

But don't forget to ask the vendor if they have the last BIOS. Some sellers do BIOS update before selling, others not.
