Hi, I have an I7 9700k being cooled by a coolermaster ml240l. I don't have enough experience to know what temperatures to expect from this level of cpu and was wondering if someone could tell me it its running too hot. I get an idle of 30C to 37C and it ranges from 75C to over 80C in games. From what I can tell that might be too high. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks.

Above 80C is high. Is your 9700k overclocked ? Whats the voltage? Do you properly put the AIO ?

I'm with 9700k @ 5.0GHz 1.34V and Alphacool LT 240 and my temps never go higher than 60C.

9700K runs hot. So it needs a better cooler. I needed to change its gel and add a second fan to my not that good Cooler Master MA410P. My experience is for most almost all games my CPU goes at most low 70 C. But Battlefield V makes a difference and it can reach easily hit 80 C and sometimes after hours of playing can reach low 80C. It uses all 8 cores a hundred percent. In Battlefield 1, the usage is not that high, so the temperature is normal. It is without overclocking. If it is not Battlefield V, your numbers are high comparing mine. My cooling is not enough, I will buy a Noctua NH-D15. Does not have RGB, but extra pipes and 2 140 mm fans are what I need, or rather my CPU needs.

To my knowledge it's overclocked. It runs at 4.6ghz from the 3.6Ghz it says it's base speed is at. It came factory that way. Right now the voltage is 1.2V. If I need a new cooler what would be a good choice? I have an NZXT H510 so it needs to fit in that.
The cooler looks like its connected correctly but I would need to double check.

Edit:
I ran CPU-Z stress test for 10 min to check the temps again and the max I saw 70C on core 0 just at the very end. It seems to balance around 65C-68C. Are these number too high. Again I'm still fairly new to this and have no basis for what to expect.
