Hi, I'm trying to decide between the i7-9700k or the i5-9600k for 1080p@144hz gaming. I already have the RTX 2070, but I'm stuck with and old i5-4460. I want to play games like Monster Hunter World (which is a poor port, therefore needing better hardware) and Anthem at high-ultra settings with the highest FPS possible. I'm pretty much thinking about the i7-9700k to future proof myself with the 8 cores, but is that really necessary or am I just wasting money? Thanks.

Solution
Both are bad decisions, with this retarded idea to add 2 more cores and remove hyper-threading on the 9700, you just get a refreshed 8700k that performs a little better but lose 4 logical cores. I find it preferable 6 cores 12 threads than 8 / 8.

to me, the 9 gen is a travesti of a generation created to respond (whoever possible) to the amd pressure on their failure to come up with a 10nm chip. skip the 9 gen if possible. or just go for the 9900k with 8/16 threads if u have the buck. still a bad investment though.
