Hello,

I've a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop, having core i7 first gen processor, with 4GB ram.

Is it still okay/acceptable or its outdated one? Your responses will be appreciated. :)

i7 1st gen is truly outdated but it is still good. The laptop ones are roughly equivalent to new Broadwell i3s single core performance. The desktop ones are roughly equivalent to 860k single core performance. So no, the 1st gen i7 is still good enough.

The first-gen Westmere CPUs have decent performance. Their problem is that they run very hot compared to modern CPUs. Especially if your i7 is the older Nehalem (45nm instead of 32nm).

If the temps/power draw are not a problem, and you're OK with the performance, then strictly speaking there's no reason to upgrade. Personally I would upgrade just to get USB 3.0 capability, but your requirements are probably different from mine.

Your Dell Latitude E6410 laptop is outdated when you feel it's performance is no longer good enough for you. What many people do with old laptops is to install a SSD which makes it feel a lot more responsive because of much faster read and write speeds. However, a SSD does not increase the performance of the CPU.

Yes guys, its performing very good. I don't see any single need for upgrading it, running windows 10 and its working smoothly on it. No lag of any kind and no issue at all, so yes you guys are right. It still performs good. :) Thanks for all your replies, this website is awesome, and very useful for getting information about anything related to computers. :)
