Hi guys, first post for me here, but I've sulked along in the background and ya'll have helped me on MANY occasions before. I hope you can do so now! 😀

I am looking to get this built in hopefully 2 weeks. I'm hoping for this build to last 2 years or so before having to add/replace parts. I'll be using it for gaming mostly.Depending on how impatient I am, I will most likely be OC'ing, up to around 3.6 Ghz.

Here's the parts:

COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper (with an extra Storm Force 200mm side fan)
Corsair TX 850W
Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920
Cooler Master V10
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
CORSAIR Dominator 6GB (3 x 2GB ) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB SATA2
Samsung SH-S223F 22X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW SATA Drive
XFX nVidia GeForce 295 GTX 1792MB
Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeGamer
Microsoft Vista Home Premium 64-bit

When I upgrade it, I'll likely add more/better ram, add another GTX 295 (or something shinier), and get a bigger PSU if needed.

Does anyone see any problems with this build? Does anyone have any positive suggestions to stop me from building a ~2000$ brick not fit to play pong on? Tips to make it quieter would be beneficial.

I appreciate all of your feedback!

Two Recommendations:

1.) Change the HDD to Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM. The VRaptors are great but the WD 640 Black is almost as fast for 1/3 the price. I would've went that route if it was out when I got my VRaptor.

2.) Drop the Cooler Master V10 and get a XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler - Retail. The V10 may look cool but the Dark Knight out performs it for 1/2 the price. Plus, with your Dominator memory, the V10 may be a hard fit over the memory.

Depending on the timings of the Corsair memory you listed, I would look at OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1600LV6GK - Retail, it has very good timings for DDR3 memory.

+1 for all those suggestions

But just to clarify things about the V10, check this article...

The V10 actually does provide better results and it doesn't block tall RAMs too...But the main reason that I would suggest the Dark knight over the V10 is for the price...That $140 odd for a CPU cooler is totally not worth it at all...

And you can drop the PSU to Corsair 750TX or the PCP&S 750 as 750W PSU would be sufficent for that GTX 295 setup and anyways that 850TX cant handle another GTX 295 in SLI...Maybe you can look into this PSU...Instead of again spending money on PSU, spend about $50 more and get this...
