I am looking to do a new gaming build because my old computer is starting to have trouble with some of the more CPU demanding games like BF3. I was looking at the I7 3770K, I5 3570K and Phenom II 955. Which do you think would be best for gaming.

Solution
Are you doing anything else with this computer, anything CPU demanding like Auto CAD or audio visual work? If not and if your main purpose is gaming than I would go with the I5. There really is no point in getting an I7 for gaming. Your main purpose is gaming and with the I7 you are paying 100 extra dollars for extra L3 cache and hyperthreading two things games don’t even make use of. With that said and taking the I7 out of the equation that leaves you with the I5 and Phenom II, both are good but the I5 is faster. What you get would depend on budget, if you have a budget

Solution
The only purpose of this computer is gaming, nothing else. Also I would say by budget is around 1,500 dollars. That would be the max, I would imagine that would give me more than enough for all the major parts including CPU, RAM, motherboard and video card.

O well im that case with a budget like that I would go with the I5.
