I7 mobile 2.6 ghz processor running at 3.5 ghz even when idle

Even at 10% cpu utilization my speed is all the way up there I have never tampered with its clock speed. It also has been running really hot in general lately could a firmware update to my graphics card have overclocked my CPU as well for some reason? Nvidia updates are known to cause problems for acer nitros.

Check power options and make sure to choose balance as high performance will maxed out the core speed
