Looking for advice or suggestions on all components below (revised from previous post), for first-time build.

-Budget is around $1400 including monitor (no keyboard/speakers needed).
-Using for Video and audio editing, regular office work like spreadsheets, email, etc, lots of multitasking, no gaming
-No overclocking
-buying this weekend from Newegg.com

Specific questions:
-Was taken by the glossy monitor - bad choice? Room has no backlight, fortunately. Any other suggestions here?
-Thermal paste important?
-enough power - and good PSU? (500W)
-was thinking about loading Windows 7 RC instead of Vista, but really need to get Photohop/Adobe PRemiere/etc up and running quickly. Would 7 be too glitchy?
-any other suggestions?

Thank you!

I've read that the Solo is quieter - somewhat important to me.

That's news to me, I find it highly unlikely that I could ever be wrong :)

Well, let's see what the experts say:

Hmm.. turns out they have the same rating.

It's not on their chart, but the CM Sileo seems decent according to them too:

No need for paste if there is no OC.
