Hey guys!

It's my first post here, and basically I'm looking for some advice whether or not it's worth it for me to upgrade to an i7 system.

Basically since I work with affiliated Intel retailers, Intel offers some pretty sick discounts through this retail employee site.

They're offering:

Big Deal Bundle #1 – $289 (USD) --> Translates to $326.39 CND at time of posting

* Intel® Core™ i7 920 processor
* Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO
* Windows Vista Ultimate* (64-bit edition)
* Upgrade voucher to receive Windows 7* (64-bit edition) upon its release

The processor also can be purchased separately:

Big Deal Bundle #2 – $129 (USD) --> Translates to $145.69 CND at time of posting

* Intel® Core™ i7 920 processor
* Windows Vista Ultimate* (64-bit edition)
* Upgrade voucher to receive Windows 7* (64-bit edition) upon its release

It's really a hard deal to pass up on, although for my current usage I'm not sure whether or not I should jump on this deal.

My current build is:

Motherboard: Asus M2R32-MVP AM2 Motherboard

CPU: AMD X2 5400+ (2.8Ghz OC to 3.0Ghz)

GPU: ATI Radeon X1950 PRO OC 600/700

RAM: Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 667Mhz

HDD: Seagate 7200.11 1TB 32MB Cache

Case: Antec SLK-3000B Mid Tower Case

PS: Ultra Xfinity 600Watt Dual 80mm Chassis Fan

Optical Drive: LG H22N 18x DVDRW

Audio: Onboard

LAN: Onboard

I would like to reuse all the parts possible (obviously ditching the MB, CPU, and RAM).

I was going to pick up this kit (and possibly price match to $109.99 CND w/ 5% tax):

The reason why I don't plan to upgrade any other parts is that this deal comes around June (in a couple of weeks) and is going to sell out quick because of the outrageously cheap deal for the i7 processor.

Do you guys think I should go with the upgrade I laid out?

Any better suggestions for a 6GB DDR3 kit to pick up?

Should I ditch the processor + motherboard bundle and just pick up the processor and get a better motherboard? (Prefer the combo because it's cheap...not looking for bleeding edge i7 motherboard)

Should I just pick up the processor and sell it off on Ebay?

Not bother with the upgrade at all? Or just build a brand new system all-together because my current parts suck?

Advice would be greatly appreciated !

Man you get the great deals ! I mean like below cost. I would jump all over that Big Bundle #1. I don't know much about Intel boards, but I read a bunch of reviews on that Intel board ...they were mixed...but it's like that with every board. The only thing I would keep out of your old rig is the HD, and I would can the rest of it. But ya that deal is too good to pass up. Also I would pass on that ram your looking at and go for this ram down below.

Thanks for the RAM suggestion, I couldn't find a <$100 before rebate 6GB kit!

My video-gaming demands right now aren't spectacularly high...so I don't think I'll part ways with my X 1950 Pro just yet....but the power supply could be an issue, think it will keep up with the i7?
