So i Have a I7 5820K 3.3 GHz i am able to get it to 4.5 GHz

I set voltage to 1.3 and DDR4 ram to 2400 mhz

pc boots up and is fine but when i run stress test from intel it freezes up.. and i have to force reboot.. i even set voltage to 1.300 and it lasted about a minute longer then before crashing..

what can i do or what do i do? Anyone can help via discord? why isn't it working? I have my cpu at at 4.2 ghz atm with 1.250 voltage

What motherboard do you have?

i7-5820k should be a good overclocker. I got mine to 4.6Gz @1.25V stable, but for 24/7 rendering I run it at 4.2Gz 1.15V.

The peripheral voltages such as vccsa/vtt and vccio have a tendency to overvolt if left on auto so you need to dial them down.

I think most crashes during stress test is due to vdroop.

Yea definitely 120mm aio won’t be enough. Get a thick 240mm or big air cooler like silver arrow ibe or d15. i7-5820k is a hot chip.

Delidding should help too

Instead of jumping up to 1.3, work your cpu and ram one by one up until it crashes and pull it down a notch after it does.
Sadly, oc-ing varies from one processor to the other due to the "silicon lottery". There may be a I7 5820k that oc to 1000 mhz higher while another i7 5820k can just have 200-300 mhz oc.

well i was able to get it stable at 1.290 cpu volt.. at 4.3 ghz... but then i got thermal throttling intel system test said... so i put it back to 4.2 ghz and 1.240 v or 1.230 v... and its fine and running good enough.. i have a 120 MM liquid cooler.. is that too smalll? do i need 240 mm?

well, since you have reached the stable oc, try upgrading your fans and maybe try re-appling your thermal paste. For fans I recommend Noctua since they are pretty good as per my experience.
