I'm buying a cpu and thinking between i9 10850k and i7 11700k. 10900k would be option too. I'll mostly be playing games and doing some editing
The price difference is 40-50$ in my country

A few comparisons so you can try to decide this yourself....

(It's a very tough call to make, frankly; if a live streaming gamer, the two extra cores/four extra threads of the 10850K might tip the scales, but, otherwise most comparisons show the two CPUs pretty evenly matched....; certainly the lack of(with 10th gen)/presence of PCI-e 4.0 (11th gen) means next to nothing excluding sounding much faster in the assorted storage benchmarks.

Depends on the usercase. For gaming 11700k is the better choice due to higher per core performance. Games are not generally not heavily threaded workloads.
For certain productivity 10850K would be the choice due to higher core count. But on mixed productivity 11700K stills comes on the top. But than it stands to reason, Zen3 offerings at the moment may be a better option than 10850K for workstation build. Last thing to consider is that there are very few games that utilize 8 threads and practically none to speak of using 16. And that is not hardly going to change before Rocket Lake becomes obsolete. For a gaming rig 11600K would aboslutely suffice, due to above, performace uplift from going up the stack even to 11900 is negligible and really not worth the money. 11700K ( which i also happens to own) kind od sits a bit in a no man's land where it's too much for gaming and just tad bit short to become an entry level workstation.

Or save some money by going with either a B560/H570 board with decent VRM's and pair it up with a i7 11700F along with a half decent aftermarket cooler and run that cpu with the power limits turned off. btw what country are you located?

From personal experience with my i7-11700k. It runs like booty but it could just be that it gets too hot or something. It only sits at 70c when I game. Make sure you keep looking into things before you settle on it and mine is only 3 days old.

When I started considering buying into rocket lake, i was initially quite concerned about operating temperatures. Having replaced 2 of our PCs with rocketlake on Z590 platform, i was pleasantly surprised. Both run at around 38C at idle and low 60s on under full load. I might have gotten lucky those particular chips, but in the end, what it all comes down to with those i7-11700k cpus, it really pays off not cheapen out on cooling solution and put a little thought into layout. Even with fans, more doesn't automatically mean better. And i didn't even bother with custom loop, it runs on plain H100i Capellix AIO.
