Question I9-11900KF thermal throttling to 2.5Ghz with 240 mm AIO

Hello,
so last year I bought a new PC, a prebuilt from Lenovo (Legion T7-34IMZ5 Desktop (Lenovo) - Type 90Q9),

it has a i9-11900KF with a 240 mm AIO. But the CPU instantly reaches temperatures of around 92-98°C and thermal throttles during gaming. After gaming some time or even just a few seconds of prime95 the CPU settles at around 92 °C and a clock speed of ~2.5GHz.

My question is, is a 240 mm AIO simply not good enough or is there something wrong with the cooler.

Thanks for any help

Sounds like something wrong with the cooler.
Is the pc still under warranty?
Yes, but I’m wondering if it’s even worth the hassle. I heard the lenovo AIOs aren’t too good, and also the 11900kf runs really hot anyways. So i was considering buying a Lian li Galahad ii trinity 360, but i’m open to other suggestions if you have any.

Thanks for replying

If you are of a mind to change the cooler, I suggest a good twin tower air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15S:
https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15s/specification
The cooling capability is about the same as a 280 aio cooler.
Noctua thinks that even a lesser cooler would be fine:
https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/INTEL-Core-i9-11900K-1288

aio coolers do not last forever.
In time air intrudes through the tubes or the mechanical pump fails or gets clogged and the cooler must be replaced.
Think about 5 years.
Your 1 year is unusual and is likely a defect.

If your use is gaming, that puts a lesser heat load on the cpu.
Fear of heat is unwarranted; intel processors are designed to run at 100c.

The Lenovo AIO isn't very good as it's rated for 200W, however under gaming that CPU should never be reaching anywhere near that. You can check with HWMonitor/HWInfo for CPU power consumption to make sure that's the case (the hardware sensors aren't always super accurate, but should be good enough for this). If you were just seeing issues while running all core heavy loads/benchmarking I might go with the cooler not being good enough but that doesn't seem to be the case.

If you don't want to deal with whatever their warranty process is you could try just repasting/remounting first before buying a better AIO.
