Hey guys. Im more than sure that there is a lot of articles about intels i9 9900k high temperatures but you know, after reading all of them still not sure if i should return mine one. Done few stress tests and after 10min seems stable on about 70C,max 75. Idle temperature seems fine as its around 30 +-, vcore is adaptive and the max was 1.320 which its pretty high i gues. Only one thing that disturbes me is when i done small fft stres test on Prime95 my cpu temperature jumped right on 100C . Other than that BFV runnig for hours and temp is in between 70-80. Double checked thermal paste but its all good. Used Artic mx4 with a Gigabyte Aorus ATC700 RGB air cooler. Maybe a custom water cooling loop would sort this problem ?

Thanks for any advice.

Intel i9 9900k 4.6Ghz

Gbyte Z390 Aorus pro wifi
2x8G Corsair vengeance pro 3000

Gbyte Aorus atc700 rgb cool

Hmm.. well the ATC 700 is a 120mm air cooler that looks about the same as the $35 Cooler Master Hyper 212X (*actually, the Hyper 212 has 4 heat-pipes while your ATC 700 only has 3 heat-pipes). I would not have chosen that cooler to use with one of the hottest CPUs on the market today.

I would buy a better cooler before I returned the CPU. High-end air cooler or 240mm, 280mm, or 360mm AiO.

Top picks from me:

EVGA CLC 280
NH-D15/D15S
NZXT Kraken X62/72

*The ATC700 is a $35 cooler with $45 worth of aesthetics.

I be honest, i did try to save on a cooler but it was a silly decision. Would a Corsair Hydro Series H150i PRO do the job ?

Splendid
The 9900K runs really hot, you need a very good cooler to keep the temps down.
In benchmarks and stress tests it is common for this cpu to hit high temps.
If you want to lower the temps as much as possible get the best cooler you can afford, a 360 AIO would be highly recommended if you can fit one in your case otherwise go for a 280 if possible.
Also check if MCE is enabled in your bios settings as with MCE on you will be getting higher temps and more power usage.

Lucky me, i was able to return the cooler as i bought it recently and swap it for the h150i 360mm. Should receive it in few days time so i will run it and give an update

I would leave the thermal pad on the cooler. I don't remember the cooler, but the pro review showed the stock paste to outperform the aftermarket paste, most likely because of the even application and not necessarily the quality of the paste. But always keep some thermal paste on hand if you need it.

Hey guys. So after a while i got the new cooler, got it all running and the results are really good. Even so the idle temp is slightly higher ( around 35) but after few cpu stress tests the highest temp i got was 63 C° except prime95 which was 70 C°. I think thats brilliant as its lower by about 15 C° . Any thoughts ?
