[SOLVED] i9-9900k is overheating like crazy

I recently got an I9-9900k and it was running perfectly for most of the day I got it then all of a sudden started to over heat for no apparent reason. The temps were running 65-75 with a 4.8 OC initially and now temps spike to 90-100 at 4.7. Worst thing is now my idle temps are ranging form 64-88 with a constant 4.7 OC. I have turned windows power settings to balanced, reset mobo, restored defaults, reinstalled windows, turned all my fans and pump on max with no effect on the temps. I assume my water cooler is working as the radiator is cool to the touch still and its putting out rpms, however the BIOS says cpu fan header has 1500+ rpms and the MSI monitor says it only has barely over 1000 rpms. Any suggestions would be great as ive hit a brick wall.

My mobo is currently the MSI MPG z390 Gaming Edge AC.

The radiator should not be cool to the touch. You should check with your hands again:
-cpu block
-tubing
-radiator
They should all feel somewhat warm. If the heat is focused at the cpu block, then you've got a problem with the pump.

Full specs? Especially the cooler?
Based on what you said so far, sounds like the cooler could be dying, specifically the pump.

Could be a 120/140mm rad. They just suck in general. Did they reapply paste? Is the cooler new and they didn’t take the plastic off?

I am in for a pump failure or air trapping. The sudden spike in temps and the cold radiator suggest a problem in heat transfer to the radiator.

I have a Corsair H100i v2 and its about 1.5 years old.

It's not very old... you likely have air trapped in the pump.
Front or top mounted?

Looking at the tubing coming out of the cpu block, is it the sides, the bottom, or the top?

Its top mounted. Is this a fixable problem?

If the pump's broken though, there's no choice but to replace it.

I have resolved the issue. My water cooler took an early death it would appear as the new cooler is working as intended and everything is smooth sailing now.
