Question i9-9900k

Hello. I have Z390 motherboard and I'm wondering whether it is worth to buy CPU i9-9900k and GPU rtx 3080 super for that, or it is gonna be better to upgrade my motherboard and buy processor from newest generation. I have this question in my mind, because I'm considering if I need newest CPU if I use my pc just to play games, and one thing I like to have is 140 fps in 2k.

I would advise to upgrade your motherboard and CPU before going with something like a RTX 3080. While it may not bottleneck to badly at 1440P or 4K it still will a bit. 1080P is out of the question.

One should always be mindful of the cost of just the 9900K and cooler vs. the cost of a 12400F/B660 combo...
