Hi all,
I just bought an Asus prime x299-a MB with a 2066 socket and an intel i9 9820 CPU. I'm a former PC pro, but out of touch for a few years. Just looking for advice to see if I should get a liquid cooling system for this CPU, or just a good fan. I'm thinking between these two:

Noctua-NH-D15S CPU Cooler Heatsink FAN

Intel-BXTS13X Water Liquid Cooling Thermal Solution

They both claim to be compatible with the 2066 socket. Also is there much or any difference in the compatibility of cpu coolers between i5/7 and i9 CPUs?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

That water cooler is much less capable than the Noctua HSF. If you go with water cooling you want one with AT LEAST a 240mm radiator, and preferably a 280mm radiator, especially on that beast of a piece of silicone. That's a 165w CPU, which is an extremely high stock TDP for a CPU with no overclocking considerations even added yet.

You are going to want to ensure you have very good case airflow, by way of presumably two intake and two exhaust fans (Or more. Less if you go with a big AIO water cooler that will take the place of at least two fans) and a VERY good CPU cooler.

I'd recommend these for air cooling HSF models:

Or possibly, depending on your case model and what size radiators (IF any) that it supports, one of these AIO coolers:
