Intel will, in what can only be described a kneejerk reaction, launch the i955X and PEE (DC) next week...

Too expensive, and even then, too weak of a product to have high hopes for.

It might be crap, but it'll probably win Intel the race. (Unless AMD is hiding something.) It might cost a fortune, but then only rich people and fools buy the latest and greatest when they first come out, especially when that LnG is unproven.

So, in other words, nothing new here. It's all SOP.

Consequently, can one call it a "a kneejerk reaction" when it's their SOP? :\ I'm not sure how I feel on that one. Can it be both? I don't know.

Historicly, Intel has been very linear, and well thought out in there products. It has only been since prescott that they have been so "kneejerk". It is a little tragic that 1 massive failure has caused them so much anxiety. (Well unless you include itanic)

Nah, its only when they are trailing AMD. Have you forgotten the race the 1 GHz and intels infamous paper 1 GHz P3 (well before 866 and 933 ones) ?

I've gotta agree with P4man on this one. Historicly any time AMD has a serious upper hand Intel tries to match it, and usually by pushing something out the door that IMHO might have been a good product one day, but wasn't ready for prime time yet.
