Hi there,

I have Packard Bell TS-11-HR laptop, 4 GB Ram, i5 processor with windows 8.1 operating system.

Most of the time IAStorDataSvc (32bit) takes a lot of memory (about 300 to 500mb) what is that and is there any way how to decrease that amount of MB?

In task manager I can see Disk usage sometimes 100% and average response time shows me that it's from 1000 to 5000 ms not all the time, but only when it's 100% then laptop becomes unusable. I remember when I had windows 7 (on same laptop) HD tune showed a bad block and in health something 'warning' but after couple reinstalls no more bad blocks, also when I installed first time windows 8.1 no more bad blocs or problems in health section.

Hard drive - it's 500 GB WDC WD5000BPVT-22hxzt1

I have own this laptop since 2011 June, maybe it's time to change hard drive? OR maybe you can suggest me any other option how to check health of hard drive?

Regards

IAStorDataSvc is part of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology system. The most common issue with this shows up as described by the OP. This can usually be resolved by updating the corresponding Intel drivers.
