Seagate has a 181.6 Gig. Have no idea about the IBM drives.

thanks for the info, but the drive is scsi. i was looking for IDE

i had a scsi hd once, but the performance increase didn't merit the increase in cost.

I read the story on zdnet. They talk about 400GB HDDs, but only as an extension of the technology. Current drives produced with this tecnhology are only about 25% denser than their peers; it will be a couple of years (2003) before they are produced. (I got that date from the same article you read. You probably just missed it.)

Anyone else notice how zdnet and news.com are carrying the exact same stories?

u gotta wait a couple of years for more pixie dust...
its all about the pixie dust...
set the pixies free...
ibm are planning to have 100gigabit per square inch hard drives by 2003 (apparently allowing for .4 TB drives) compared to todays 20gigabit or so...
their first "pixie dust" drive is out already for laptops with around 25gigabits per square inch....
