IBM 4019 - stop!

i have an old 4019 which gives great service, but occasionally when i
accidentally use the wrong driver, the printer just keeps on spitting
out page after page after page with just a line or two of ascii jumble
at the top. Even after switching off and bacl on, the buffer is still
full and out comes more!

What I need to know is: How do you cancel a print job mid-stream? I
have tried every key combination I can think of with no result.

Am using WinXP, Hp emulation, MS driver.

Any help appreciated.

I'm trying to remember, and not very successfully, but here are a couple
of thoughts.

Once you turn the printer off and leave it off and leave it of for
several seconds I think the buffer should clear itself. But your
Operating System should know that the job did not complete printing and
continue or restart the job when it can communicate with the printer
again. So check the print queue on your system and cancel the job there
while the printer is turned off.

Second, you may be sending a postscript print stream to a non-postscript
printer of driver. That can create the problem you are seeing, and then
the problem I described above will occur.

I believe it's

1. Push "Start/Stop" button and release
2. Push "Start/Stop" button and hold
3. While holding "Start/Stop" button push "Print/Check" button
4. Release both buttons
5. Push "Start/Stop" button and release
