Hi. For the third time in a couple of months my IBM 45 gig hdd has crashed bad (all data lost). Each time I've been handling large files (1 gb). I have an Abit BE6-II Raid mb. Some people have suggested compatibility problems with the hpt370 controller, but the drive is not connected to this controller. I run Win 98 with fat32. The 45 gig drive is my second drive, the first drive (os disk) is also ibm (8 gb) and I've never had any problems with that.
The drive is tested ok with Ibm fitness center.
The first 2 times it crashed I had a partition of 45 gig, the third time I had 2 partitions of 20 gig.
I've only got a 200W PS and some people have said that running 4 drives (2 hd's and 2 cd/dvd) on just 200w is madness.
The system is not overclocked.

Any ideas/solutions/help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My specs:

P3 800 mhz
256 mb ram
Elsa Erazor tnt2 video card
Hollywood+ dvd decoder
pioneer 10x dvd rom
sony crx-140 cd burner
abit be6-2 raid

possibly...
but it could also be that 75GXP problem some people seem to be having...
particularly with the 30gig & 45gig models

I would get a new powersupply and try that first

Your PSU is definitely way too small. Get a big one, not too much $$$ and the bigger they are, the less hard they work. I use the 430W enermax and it barely has to run the fan...

nothing if bullet proof.
IBM drives are reputed to be the most reliable of them all,
jet a fair number of people are getting damaged drives, only in the 75GXP range.
apparently due to a controller confict
is that your problem? who knows
just trying to provide hints. if u change everything else and the problem still exists then i would say yes.
go get a replacement/moneyback r better yet, argue for a 60gxp
cooler, faster & quieter
