I put one in my friend's comp that I built for him about 2 months ago. He loves it. I wish my comp ran that good. Well it does, but I have 2 75GXP 30's RAIDed.

depends who u talk to.

as with anything mechanical, and hard drive especially, there is always a SLIM change of it dying prematurely.

but ive got one and its fine & fast. got a friend to buy one too. its also going super fast.

I'll respect your comments & opinions, even if i disagree with them, Provided you dispay maturity.

I know about those bad things about it, but I'd still recommend it over any other HDD.

I bought 3 from a supplier. 1 on 1 shipment, 2 on another.

The 1 was dead. The other 2 work fine.

The 1 was tested with the IBM DFT and will be replaced.

strange how 3/3 faulty drives came from the same supplier, could have been banged about badly during transit/storage, or could be a bad bacth maybe? or the supplier could be buying untested drives on the cheap - it does happen, I have one and have had no probs at all, very fast and pretty quiet, I know quite a few people that have the same drive and have no problems. I seem to remember a few probs with th deskstarm 75's, but these were replaced with the 60's if I remember right

There have been problems with the 75gxp.
That doesn't mean there have to be trouble with the 60gxp..
It's too early to say..
I do not know the guys at hexus, but i don't think they know so much about HD:s as it looks like.

"The point is manufacturers want as much data per platter as they can get, as this leads to cheaper drives with less plates. BUT! The data is too densely packed, and this causes heat problems. The constant heating/cooling cycles contaminates the data on the adjacent plate"

That is just a guess, nothing more..

I've installed two at my company and they have been running fine (4 months now). I purchased 2 of the 40 Gig 60GXP's. The lucky workstations that have them are running much faster than the old (2 Gig Quantums) drives they replaced. The users (accountants) noticed the performance improvements.
