Now, my question is how are these hard drives? I've never used them before, but heard that they are pretty good. Also, I will post this on the mobo section, but if anyone knows how the MSI board is feel free to let me know. I looked at reviews of this board and pretty much everybody says that it is just as good as the asus board, which uses the same chipset. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks in Advance,
Kristy

IBM hard drives are simply the best -- rock solid, quite, and very fast. I would serious consider the giga-byte GA-7dxr as an alternative mobo.

I choose the MSI board because it has onboard raid, onboard sound, and with the raid it has I can go up to 4 drives on it. With most mobo's you can only go up to 2 drives. I looked at the giga-byte and it's a ddr mobo, I don't want to go that route just yet.

erm...
u sure the 60gxp comes in a 30gig version?
i thought it was only 20,40 or 60

but anyhow... i have a 40gig 60gxp... and its wonderfully fast, and so amazingly quiet too

Well, I got the information from pricewatch, so I sure hope they have a 30gig 60gxp. I copied my specs right out of where I was ordering them from. I'll check into it though, I am not very familiar with hard drives or do I know too much about them. Thanks so much

I dont think the 60GXP comes in 30gig only 20, 40, 60 (uses 20gig platers) i got the 60gig

i do know that the 75gxp comes in 30gig cause it uses 15gig platers

Well, I went to pricewatch again and typed in 30gig 60gxp and it brought up quite a few, so unless their wrong, there is a 30gig 60gxp drive.

My god I hope IBM is making 60GXPs or somebody is sending me bogus drives :). I'll admit the 30G models weren't available as soon as the 20 and 40G models.

On a side note: Of course they are.. You can always tell by checking IBM's table of Hard drives http://www.storage.ibm.com/techsup/hddtech/table.htm .

***check the jumpers 1st then check em again***

Note: The 10GB and 30GB models are only sold to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Post, we'll do the "search"...

My bad last time i checked there were only 20, 40, 60 drive but that was about a month ago i guess they came out with more

if they DO make an OEM 30gig 60gxp i wouldnt bother... if u think about it it would still use 2 platters like the 40gig, but one side is just wasted space.
still have the same noise/heat output
go for the 40.
with your system you may just need it :)
