I just lost my second Western Dig. hard drive in two years. After looking through alot of the post here, I've narrowed the replacement down to either an IBM 60gxp series or a Maxtor. Basically I'm looking for a 60gb 7200rpm drive that has good perfromance. I would be thankful if anyone has a suggestion as to which way to jump!
Thanks guys!

either, their both good products. i can't speak for the newer maxtors (i use all 60gxp's and i really like them, fast and quiet). but i do have this old maxtor 17gb diamond, i think it's about 3 or 4 years old that i've never had a problem with, use it to store mp3's,etc now.

the maxtor d740x series is great
i just bought one, and i can tell you...VERY QUIET...
it runs just a tad warmer than my 5400rpm maxtor did, and it is 7200rpm,
and it has the 2 meg buffer, and an 8.5 ms seek time!
this thing rocks!
and the ata-133 will be more future compatible than other drives running at ata-100

You know, Maxtor has finally impressed me with their newer drives. I used to be one who leaned towards IBM. I can now recommend either of these brands, as they're both great products.
