I bought an iBuyPower computer and games keep crashing on it. First I thought it was my video card due to pixelation and colored lines, RMA'd it and the colored lines and pixelation was fixed but games still crashed. Then I thought it was my power so I got a new power supply, still didn't work.

CPU - AMD Fx-8350
GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7770
PSU - Cooler Master GX II 750W
Memory - 8GB
Mobo - GA-970A-D3P
OS - Win8.1

If you are a current iBuyPower customer or have been one, did you have bad experiences with it?

Solution
Hmmm.. it COULD be another faulty card (If so, you'll have to send it back in again), but that seems unlikely. This might be drastic, but we may need to reinstall Windows 8 just to rule out any software problems since you're already updated your AMD drivers.

I don't know if that's an option you'd like to pursue (time-intensive). I've read around and sometimes a fresh reinstall could do the trick. The other would be trying another GPU. Either option requires a great deal of time so I'm sorry for the inconvenience. 🙁

But I recommend calling tech support first before going with any of my recommendations (They know what they'r doing).

So far I've noticed about all of them. It can take 5 Minutes or upto an hour or two. Recently:
DarkSiders - Played for not even 10 Minutes, paused to get the phone, came back and it was froze. I have to go to the task manager to exit it out.
PayDay 2 - took an hour or two before crashing. Again, Task-Manager to exit it out
BioShock - Took 30 Minutes to crash, and then I put it on windowed mode and it stayed up for a good while. Then the next day when I had it on windowed mode again, it crashed after pausing the game.

Okay, let's start with some general questions, are your drivers up-to-date? Also, can you check around see if this is a common issue with your GPU with this software update?

If your GPU was recently swapped/fixed, that shouldn't be the problem anymore. My next guess would have been power supply, but you've ruled that out, nicely. The only issue I can think of is software compatibility!

I already am up to the latest AMD Driver. So It might be compatibility issues, and by that do you mean my OS? Because I heard other people have troubles with Win8.1 so I might just be rollbacking to Win7. Too bad I have to buy it. And I'm not sure if I have Windows 8.1 OEM or not. Will I still be able to rollback to Win7 even if my Win8.1 Is OEM?

No, I haven't. I will probably need to, but in the meantime, when they do crash the audio continues to play. I can hear the sound effects and walking, but it's stuck on a single frame. About, if not all, games do this. And when I was playing black ops II I lowered my resolution and put it on windowed mode and I played longer than usual. But as soon as I pressed the esc key to pause, it froze.

I don't know why it happens, all the drivers are up to date and I updated the windows updates yesterday. No solution. Also, my friend accidentally pressed the moon button on the ibuypower keyboard and it corrupted my BIOS. The BIOS did recover due to dual-bios motherboard but the thing is, it probably done a role in the factor of not being able to play games.

If I have to do a clean install of windows 8.1 or send the GPU back in I'm all up for it. Although I'm pretty sure it's not the GPU since I can still run other applications while it's froze. There's no AMD error messages or anything, but like you said I will call the tech support first. I still have all the CD's it came with. The motherboard CD, the GPU drivers, and the windows 8.1. But likewise, if I do do a clean install of windows 8.1, couldn't I just switch that out with windows 7?

Unfortunately, I got a display driver error today on my GPU when it froze and the audio continued. I looked at AMD's website and an option is to do a clean install of my OS. Which may be the best thing to do.

Okay. Calling tech support when I'm getting home to see what they recommend. Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I just bought a new BB971 ibuypower and I’m having the same crashing/everything running super laggy. Please help, their customer support so far has been very poor!

That user hasn't posted back since this last post over five years ago.
Kind of doubt they're coming back.
I'd recommend starting a new thread with your issues and full system specifications.

Closing thread.
