Hello, im looking to buy my first gaming pc ever, and i found one on Newegg.com. The problem is, im not too sure this is a good computer to buy, because some people are having problems. I want to be able to run call of duty smoothly, and i want my pc to last a while, with room to upgrade. Like i said, i found one and im gonna give you guys a link so maybe you could help me out.

The price is good. It will work fine for COD, but some of the components like the power supply are really low quality.(it will die after a year or two) You can do better building it yourself.

Which Call of Duty? Black OPs 2?

Black OPS 2 has a minimum suggested system spec of the following

•OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7
•CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz or AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHz
•Memory: 2GB for 32-bit OS or 4GB for 64-bit OS
•Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512 MB or ATI Radeon HD 3870 512 MB

Bearing in mind that most minimum requirements are exactly that (bare minimum) you should aim higher. Of course a smooth frame rate can be dependent on various factors everything from resolution to Anti-Aliasing can have a drastic impact on in game performance.

Ultimately you need to decide what it is that you want to achieve, the resolutions involved and the quality of the gameplay. Knowing this will help you better understand what you need to do. But lets start off with which Call of Duty it is that you wish to play.

Yeah, im talking about call of duty black ops 2. So you guys are telling me this pc wont run black ops 2 on medium setting smoothly? I looked up each part you guys listed and the pc i linked is faster than those minimums.

500$ tops. I want the game to run as smooth as possible on at least medium settings. And is below 60 fps a bad number? I'm just wondering what the looks of it will be, whether it will be laggy or what?

30fps is playable 60 is butter smooth
btw that comp is now $550
this build is far Superior all respects...and its a lot more fun to build ur comp

sweet! thanks! Will this get 60 fps on medium? and what could I increase to get higher fps? Could I get a more expensive cpu or video card? If so which one would you reccomend if i wanted to spend a little more money than 430?

Some games will benefit from an i5, but an i7 is a waste of money. Intel cpus with a K suffix can be overclocked. AMD fx x3xx cpus are decent for gaming too and all can be overclocked.
The combination of the 7850 and i3 that i mentioned is very balanced in terms of cpu to gpu power.

Damn, that goes over my budget. Lol, I'm sorry to be such a hassle but i appreciate all the help! I definitely like the parts you listed, they seem way better than the first set. What kind of cpu and gpu combo could i get for a cheaper price for 60fps or is that about as cheap as it gets? I like the power supply, i read good reviews about that. I'm just loooking for a 500 dollar max price, with 60 fps for that "butter smooth" picture you were talking about haha. I'm getting this PC specifically for gaming, and I'm glad you convinced me to build my own and im actually looking forward to it. And will that motherboard support the cards and stuff i throw at it? I agree buying a prebuilt is a bad idea anyways, and what kind of pc do you have?

How about the GeForce GTX 650 ti? In the benchmark link you sent me, is that geforce the 1GB? I also should tell you i want and HDMI slot for my graphics card, or be able to plug an HDMI cord into my monitor for HD picture (Not sure how that works and what part i would need).

What do you think about this one, its a little bit cheaper and still averages about 64fps. if you cant find any other ones that are cheaper than that with the same result, this willl probably be the gpu i chooose. Whatcha think?

The 650ti is a fine choice too. In the benchmark its 1 gb. The linked card has a hdmi port.
The motherboard has a decent onboard sound chip.
