If you aren't doing graphics, photo, or video work, and you don't see a color problem with your monitor, I would avoid using an ICC profile.
Most mass-market monitors are adjusted so the colors "pop" and look more saturated than they should be. The #1 reaction I get when I calibrate people's monitors is that they complain the colors now seem faded and muted. Those weak colors are accurate, it's just that people have grown used to oversaturated colors.
