If you can't understand French, try babelfish or something. In short, apparently 5-12% (depending upon the source) of ICH5 equiped boards would be affected by some problem that causes it to overheat or short out after some weeks of operation. All motherboard manufacturers seem affected, so its not likely a MB design issue.

Possibly a bad run of chips. Production on this chipset should end soon anyway.

Oh that is nice.. so intel will send you a new ICH5 chip ? Cool.. lots of pins to solder though.

Get a clue, its the MB oems that will replace the defective boards, and it wouldn't matter wether that is an burnt intel, VIA or SiS chipset on it. how the oems arrange this with intel (if indeed its intels fault), is another matter, but doesn't concern the end customer one bit. The only thing he should be concerned about, is downtime and the required hassle.
