Icon of dvd writter is not show on my computer?

the icon of dvd writter is not shown on my computer. what can i do please tell ? window 7 is on my computer.

hit start -> type "diskmgmt.msc" without the quotes and hit enter
see if you dvd drive is being detected or not. if it is make sure it is assigned a drive letter. if it isn't being detected make sure its connected properly and check to see if your bios detects it.

also google windows 7 cd-rom hi low registry errors. there a bug in the hi low registy keys if they get damaged a cd-rom/burner wont show up.
