Why didnt i think of this! this is great for those using smal mini itx cases such as Bitfenix series and Corsair's HAF XB.This allows 2 ssd's in raid 0 for lightning fast OS and Program storage, and a big 3.5 slot for a 4TB driver perfect for storing your steam library or production content.

@doomtomb:Until they do away with optical discs completely, 5.25 is here to stay.As dginggeri mentioned, these things have been around for a while. I prefer this option from Silverstone though that turns a 5.25 bay in to a bay that holds a slim line optical drive as well as 4x 2.5 drives.http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silverstone-sst-fp58b-bay-device-525-1x-slot-loading-slim-optical-drive-and-4x-25-hdd-ssd-blackSilverstone have had these for sale for quite a while

Exactly what I need for my mini-ITX build. I can use the empty space from the original hdd space for more fan. better airflow. - Bitfenix Phenom

5.25" bays have been out for so long it isn't funny. Too bad there are almost no cases that you can purchase without them. Optical hasn't been usable for at least 3 years now. I hate 5.25" bays but since you can't buy a case without them at least this is something you can do with them.

I would never buy a case that does NOT have a optical drive bay. For one it is needed for my XSPC water cooling kit and I have to have a Blu-Ray burner it is a must. So I need at least 3 5.25 bays. Optical drives of some type will be around for some time to come.

I built my computer just a year ago and I use all four of my 5.25" bays. One person does not equate to everyone not having a use for them.

Interesting. This could be a good accessory to have for a home cloud unit. Although I think what with multi-terrabyte drives becoming more popular, and therefore cheaper, the need for multiple drives will start declining soon...
