Hi, im a first time builder and would appreciate your advice on the parts I am using. I will be using this system for internet/office productivity + tv tuner and some music recording, and very light video editing. A quiet system is my priority. Will be running vista 64bit/win 7.

video - on board video - but I would like to replace it with a low cost card that is quiet. I find that most cards with a fan are noisy. Please let me know if there is a quiet fanless card that is ok or a low noise one with a fan. I will not be doing any heavy gaming.

Looks like a good plan. The biggest noise maker is going to be the case itself. The single 120mm fan in the back will have to work hard to keep everything cool.

Because of the cooling in the case, I have a hard time recommending a fanless video card.

For another 5$, u can get a 640gb hard drive that's just as fast on read, write as the 500. Some benchmarks even have the 640 being faster on the read speeds.

Ooops. newegg was down when I posted before.

With an EA380, you can't run that 9600GT. The 4670 will probably run, but a 380W, even a good one like that, is a bit light for a gaming card.

Biostar would not be my pick for the company. Gigabyte has a G41 that actually costs less:

As to the G41 chipset, I think it's a great budget choice.

Your other choice would be AMD 780G chipset and and X3 720. This might actually save you money and get a faster processor over all... not faster in programs coded for quads, but close, and faster in many programs.

You'll need a good cooler, and this one is great.
Overclocking is not like it was 4 or 5 years ago. It's easy and fruitful and not much more risky than building your own system.
The extra cooling in your case, and this cooler, and you can do it.
