Hello, everyone. I would like to upgrade my computer.

Current Specs:
CPU + M/B : i5 4460 + MSI Z97 Guard Pro
GPU : MSI GAMING GTX 970 4GB
PSU : Corsair CX650M
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 4x2GB Ram DDR3
HDD: WD10EZEX 1TB Blue
SSD: 256GB SSD (forgot HAHA)

I'm looking to upgrade my computer for $1000 I want to keep my HDD and SSD. :)
I'm also buying a AOC G2460PF soon which I want my computer upgrades to handle the 144hz.
I want to enjoy the triple A games and the competitive games with 144fps. I don't mind the Triple A not hitting 144 but competitive games with rather fancy details. I could wish for a black and white PC.

Thank you so much!
(P.S. I live in Singapore)
$1000 usd > $1500 SGD basically

Solution

not as much as you think. i think a 1070ti or 1080 should be fine for a 4460. 4460 is still pretty good.

and if you get a 1070 ti or 1080, they will be still pretty good for your next cpu/motherboard upgrade.

Thanks, is there any other alternatives cause the 1070 ti costs so much.

Well the regular GTX 1070 would be really good to get, if that is too much then hold onto your GTX 970 for now.

Then should I still get the R5 2600X?

Well, I did some calculations:
CPU + M/B : $444 (ASRock AB350 Pro 4 + R5 2600X)
GPU : $793 (MSI Duke GTX 1070 Ti 8GB)
RAM : $289 (G.Skill RipJaws V 3000mhz)
and it's overshot my budget right now.. so xD

If you can fit it into your budget then yes, it's a great CPU for gaming and multitasking if needed. If your only gaming then you could go i5-8400/H310(or B360/H30) and 16gb of DDR4.

i would wait for the new nvidia gpu...buy the new gpu install it in your rig see if the older rig work fine fps with the newer gpu. sell the old 970 add the funds to the build. i would wait for after coffee lake for the newer cpu from intel. if there new high end server hitting 5g what will the newer i7/i5 be running at???
