Hello,
I am doing the first upgrade to an old pc.
need to add 2nd Hard disk as slave to a 40 GB IDE -5400 RPM master. what wud be the best option considering i need minimum 160gb more space. can i add a 7200 rpm hd as slave/interchange it to master. The motherboard is k2gl6e.

need bit more info...the master has ATA/100 interface with 2mb cache.what wud be my preference for the additional hd apart from 7200rpm ide. Can i have a larger cache memory for this or is it of no use. Is a ATA/100 interface must?

Thanks....

+1, this is true. You could clone the old drive to the new one and then swap the master/slave jumpers afterward. I would make your overall system faster in the end.

You can't add any additional cache to the HDD itself.
