My ABIT-RAID mobo came with two 40x80 cables. One of these had a wire punched out. Is this to id it as a "slave" device? If so, do I then need to get a second unpunched cable and use the two unpunched cables to hook up my two HHD's for RAID 0 config? The ABIT manual item check list said "Two 80-wire/40-pin ribbon cables for master and slave Ultra DMA/100...." It said nothing about one being "punched". What gives?....help.

It can't be that hard to build a PC.....naive newbie
Edited by mongoose on 02/13/01 01:46 AM.

If I rember right the cable with a spot punched out is a cable for auto negotiating slave/master (or Cable Select)

please correct me if I'm wrong.
