Hi

I have recently bought a new laptop which unsurprisingly does not have a blu ray drive. My old laptop which is now 12 years old does and it makes sense to turn that into an external drive in a caddy rather than buy a brand new external blu ray drive.

The old drive is a Panasonic UJ220 and apparently the interface is IDE/PATA according to specs I have found online. However the socket does not look like a typical IDE/PATA connector and I am having trouble trying to understand what it is. Tried to attach a pic bit seems forum does not support 🙁
Does anyone know what it could be?

Second question, is it feasible to connect this to a new laptop via USB-C or alternatively USB-A? I can't seem to find a "simple" connector for this. I don't know if it's necessary to first convert PATA to SATA via some kind of connector as I can see SATA to USB connectors. However in that case, I doubt I would be able to find a premade caddy that could fit the drive and the converter. As a point of info, my USB-C is thunderbolt 3 so technically it could power the drive without the need for a separate power supply - I assume.

Thanks for the help!
