Ideal fan intake if the front is blocked by HDDs

Got a Cooler Master N300 case recently.

Theres lots of room inside the case, so the cpus only running at 32-36 degrees 1-6% load even with no intake fan.

Anywho... the whole of the front of my case is occupied by hard disks and a DVD writer at the top, that only leaves the side panel (partially covered by hdds) and the top of the case.

So where is the ideal place to put an intake fan?

If I place it at the top, it doesn't leave much room for the air to travel (the out fan is situated at top back), would this make the airflow worse than without a fan installed?

You are going to build airflow, which means you need air circulating in and out of your system. Nothing can block the air of circulating no matter how many drives you are installing. Use the front and [strike]rear[/strike] side as intake. Top and rear as exhaust and no worries
Are you sure you are making the right configuration with your hdd? I saw an image with a N300 showing a front case fan at the front of Hdd module. Anyway, your top fans should be idealy used for exhaust and not intake as the heat goes up. Use the side for intake, and the rear for exhaust again.

Wouldn't that block the airflow from the intake?

Though yes, it seems most cases have the intake fans at the front.

Sorry, maybe I described the situation badly.

There is room to install fans at the front - was more concerned whether having the HDDs directly where the intake is would block the air coming in and therefore making them pointless.
