I have a Fractal Core 500 case and want to improve the airflow and decrese temps, main reason because i bought a new GPU which only activates fans when under load, when GPU is idle i am getting 63c average which seems a little high, i guess my case is a little hot.

Current case fan is only rear 140mm as exhaust, thinking of fitting 2x 120mm at top as intake, also another 3x 40mm at front as intake, similar to how the Node 304 has 2x 92mm at front, after i attach the front panel then there will be a small gap at the bottom to allow air to come in, i could also remove the cover for 5.25" drive bay and maybe but some mesh in front of fans. So in total i will have 6 case fans connected to a fan hub.

Would this be a good setup? if not then what would be ideal?

Honestly if you put the front fans and top fans as proposed you may not get much airflow across the items you want cooled. It looks like it would come in the front and be sucked right out at the top. Perhaps just the front fans and let the air circulate and exit out the rear fan? You can use an app like MSI Afterburner to create a fan curve for your gpu to keep the idle temp cooler and while gaming after you install the front fans.

With the front and top as intake, i assumed the air will come in from front and top and forced to the rear exhaust. Either way i can still buy all the fans as they are so cheap and just experiment with best setup.

Regarding the GPU temps, i have set the AMD software to have fans at constant 33% which is the minimum allowed and then increase at higher temps, now my idle is 38c.

Well you already solved your gpu heating problem with the fan curve adjustment. So any fan setup you choose would be a bonus and help for all the hardware in your setup.
