I am wondering what fan curve you would recommend for my Evga 980 FTW. I have good airflow in my case and am looking for a curve that is quiet when idle and is balanced when under load.

Solution

I have a GPU that turns off the fans completely until they hit 60 degrees. Maybe put your fans on 5 percent or so until they get to 60, when you can ramp up speeds. I don't have your specific GPU, but if I was you, I'd just try out different fan RPMs so you can pick a quiet one. Temps are pretty much safe until around 80 degrees or so, and even then it's probably fine, just a little toasty, but you might want to crank up the RPMs then. Usually 50% max fan speed is even too loud and overkill; your EVGA card has a nice cooler on it. Use MSI...
